The 18-gauge core is wrapped in a red polyethylene jacket for a total thickness of about 1 mm, protecting the signal wire from moisture and soil year after year.
The cable stays flexible for easy laying around corners, garden beds and gates, and dispenses smoothly from its plastic spool so one person can run the whole boundary without tangles.
